Dead Nuts Ink Quill Machine

Just a little about our process...

We make everything by hand. No two machines will ever be exactly alike. None of the hardware on these machines is made with a CNC. The binding posts, vise screw, coil cores, and contact screw knob were all made at the Dead Nuts Ink machine shop on a manual lathe. The armature speed bars are made here on a manual drill press. Our springs are hand cut and shaped from raw blue spring steel stock. (I have replaced hand cut springs with Eikon polished springs on both machines.)

Hand Made in the USA.

Every machine is a one piece casting made of ductile iron.

The Quill Machine begins as the blank frame and are Hand Carved, oil blackened, and polished.

Custom coils are hand wound by Steele Irons.

Liner machines run around 120hz unloaded at 5.0 V, medium stroke with a medium hit.

Shader machines run around 105hz unloaded at 6.5 V, long stroke with a soft hit.

Because of the hand carving, the weight varies slightly. Liner weighs about 7.5 oz; Shader weighs about 8.1 oz.

Coil specs-

7-1/2 layer for liner, 9-1/2 layer for shader.

Zebra wood washers, 5/16" core diameter, 7/16" T-Top blackened cores, 8 coats of lacquer.

Machines ship within 5 business days.
